Black Salt, or Kala Namak, is a kiln-fired rock salt used extensively in South Asian cuisine. Despite its name, the salt crystals appear dark purple or black in their whole form, but turn a pinkish-grey when ground into a fine powder.
Digestive Aid: In Ayurveda, it is known as a "cooling" salt and is frequently used to treat heartburn, flatulence, and poor appetite.
